Lee Chong Wei - World No 1

World rank No 1 shuttle Datuk Lee Chong Wei proved himself again he is still world No 1 after defeated his rival world No 2 Lin Dan from China in Korea Open 2012. The 29-year-old Chong Wei overcame a listless start to carve out a 12-21, 21-18, 21-14 win over four-time world champion Lin Dan of China in a physically taxing one-hour and 15-minute men’s singles final at the US$1mil tournament in Seoul.

Chong Wei easy lost in the first game but he regained his momentum back in the second to race closely with Lin Dan and won 21-18. The final set, Lee Chong Wei set the pace and lead most of the game towards end of the game. He has won a cool US$75,000 (RM235,875) for Korea title. He could be more when he goes after his eighth home title at the US$400,000 Maybank Malaysia Open, which begins on 10-15th Jan at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
